Hi I dont think you should take Acomplia if you are taking antidepressents. Have a chat with your pharmacist.
Acomplia should not be taken, or should be taken only under exceptional circumstances under your doctor's direct guidance, in the following circumstances:
Anyone who exhibits hypersensitivity or an allergic reaction to the drug (it should never be used in these circumstances). Anyone with an impaired liver function. The effects of Acomplia have not been studied in patients with liver damage. Anyone with impaired kidney function. It should never be used in patients with a severly limited kidney function. Anyone over the age of 75. There is no data currently available to establish safety in this age group. Any children under the age of 18 - there is currently a lack of data on efficacy and safety for this age group. Pregnant or lactating women - safety in these groups has not been established. Indeed, current data in rats shows possible damage to the developing foetus and an inhibited sucking reflex in young rats. There is little data on the safety of Acomplia in patients suffering from epilepsy and it should be prescribed with caution in these instances. The Acomplia tablet contains lactose and should therefore not be prescribed to patients with a lactose intolerance. It should only be used with caution in combination with CYP3A4 inhibitors, such as ketocinazole, ritonavir, clarthromycin and related drugs. It should not be prescribed to patients with an uncontrolled psychiatric condition, and is not recommended for use with antidepressants as there is a lack of data on the safety in these circumstances
Hi there! I would love to know how you were prescribed Acomplia from your doctor,as I asked mine and she said it is not available on the nhs yet,and she isn't allowed to do me a private prescription! Would love to know a doctor who would,as I pay ?125 Per month from the internet! It's so expensive, and I hate having to pay it! Thanks!
Please can you tell me how your purchase it on the internet even at ?125. I am overweight with heart problems and diabetes type II, which is what I thought this drug was supposed to help with? I am not on any antidepressants, but am severely disabled and unable to take much exercise so losing weight is difficult for me.
Hi Meshelle, I have a underactive thyroid and i have put on alot of weigth and it is getting me down, thats why my doctor prescripted Acomplia with no problems, he knew that i had tryed to lose weight. While i`m taking it ido have to see the nurse once every two wks to be weighed,It is available on the NHS i`m afraid that your doctor does`nt want to give you it. I live in Lincolnshire and i can get it, Been on it now for 4 wks and have lost 12 pounds am hopping for a stone a month got 4 stone to lose. Try another GP but keep trying to get it. Good Luck to everbody who is trying to lose weight.
Taking Acomplia whilst on antidepressants may increase the incidence of "suicidal thoughts", the reason why the FDA in th US have currently not approved it. You will need to discuss with your doctor whether or not Acomplia is right for your circumstances.
hi there i am new to this i weigh 21 stone 3lbs and have just last thursday been prescribed acomplia on the nhs does it work any help tips ideas i am limted to the amount of execise i can do also and i have an underactive thyroid as well thanks
Hi i have obtained my acomplia over the inter net, started taking a couple of weeks ago, it has helped a little i have lost around 5 pounds, no bad after effects from it which is great. fingers crossed this tablet works i have tried many others with bad effects.
Well done you!! Any loss at all is good news. It's my first weigh in day today so I'll let you know how it goes. Maybe we can keep in touch so we can motivate each other.
Do you mind me asking but how much have you paid for Acomplia?
hi i paid approx ?62., for three months supply, i must admit i am now finding it easier to eat things even when i am not hungry, its breaking the habit of eating when everyone else is or saying no to the cream cake when others in the office have one and of course the constent offers of going out for meals and bq's.
I know exactly what you mean. I was quite disappointed this week though when I had my first weigh in and I'd only lost 1 pound but I suppose at least it's a loss.
Where did you buy your Acomplia from as I'm not sure how long my doctor will prescribe them for me and I will probably continue taking them. I've got at leat 4 stones to lose and if you look at the height/weight chart it could be as much as 6 stones.
Hi i have not been good at all this week, several meals out for birthdays etc., must try harder next week. a lot of it is mind over matter. most of the time when i do eat i do not really want it, it is just habit or eating because everyone else is. i got my pills from a company called xlpharmacy.com they only took around 5 days to reach me from the day of ordering them, the company is Canadian but the pills come from india. They even have a special offer on this month so it makes them even cheaper.
this is the end of my 2nd week. I got weighed yesterday and I'd lost 2lbs this week - I know it's not a lot but as I've been dieting for ever I was really pleased.
I'm going on holiday in 5 weeks and would like to lose another 7lbs before then.
I know what you mean. Lost 2lbs this week so I'm pleased with that as I definitely could have been better. I'm like you and eat because I can and not just when I'm hungry but I have found that the Acomplia is helping with this. A typical example is when the tea trolley comes round at work - before Acomplia I really struggled not to go but it's not as bad now.
i asked my doctor if there was some sort of appetite supressant that could help me get kick started as it is soooo dificult to ignore that bag of crisps when you are starving, he then suggested acomplia. this is my 3rd tablet today and up to now i have lost the desire to snack between meals and am not starving at meal times. this has to give some result !!!!
that sounded bad, this is my third day ! not my 3rd tablet today sorry
hi I have taken my third tablet today. It seems to stop you snacking when you are not hungry. I love food, and allways clear my plate but yesterday i only ate half of my dinner. just didn't desire it . I couldnt believe it as that is not normal for me. Have not been weighed yet, but feeling confident. how are you getting on?
hi all hope your all doing well i have been weighed today 1st time since starting tablets has been 4 weeks and i have lost 7 lbs not as much as i was expecting but better than nothing
hopefully will do better this month. !!!!
hope everyone else is doing good these tablets are good i have noticed that i dont crave anything i used to be terrible for takeaway and i have not wanted it once
Yes, my doctor has prescribed Acomplia for me. My problems are that I am a shift worker. I work 12 hour shifts (days and nights) and travel 95 minutes each way to and from work. This makes each day that I work about 16 hours. The nature of my work means that I sit at a desk for the entire 12 hours with no meal breaks. If all is quiet, I can eat regularly, but I have to react to incidents, which is fairly frequently, my eating pattern then goes out of the window or becomes no existant. I regularly take my food home again. Regrettably to get healthcare professionals to understand this is nigh on impossible. All of the plans I have been given over the years revolve around a 9 to 5 existance Monday to Friday where as my shifts are 24/7 365 days per year. I also find eating at different times of the day or night a chore, and a lot of the time feel that I cannot be bothered to eat. I know this is wrong, but after 37 years of shift work it has become habitual. Having tried several diets, diet type pills my doctor has now prescibed Acomplia. I have been on them now for two weeks, I don't know what I am supposed to feel, but I don't feel any different to what I did before I started. Also I'm struggling to understand how to take them especially when I am on night shift. Any ideas or suggestions would be welcome.
From reading your posts I'm starting to feel really hard done by! I have just been perscribed Acomplia but on private prescription and have just forked out ?130 for 3 months. I have been seeing my doctor, a dietician and an Endocrinologist for over 2 years and have tried every diet and diet pill known to man, so I am really encouraged by reading your posts.
I think I'm going to try and convince my Doctor to perscribe anymore of these on the nhs.
I've tried reductil in the past that worked really well.
The weight started to creep back on (7lbs since August) since I stopped taking them. The last lot didn't work for me at all so I've just taked my first acomplia today.
Hi I have been on acomplia for 4 months ,i have found them great, but be patient .the first month i lost 11llb i then lost only about 1llb the second month and felt disheartened with them!! then it was xmas so i lost nothing , , but this month i lost 8llb and my body seems to feel so much fitter , i had 3 stone to lose and i know over 3 month a stone is not much but now i just know it will start coming off, i just find that this drug needs time to work and it depends a lot on how you feel. also I am on antidepresents and it does not make any difference at all so if you are on them dont worry!!! I think if we stick with them we will all get the desired affect.
hi! wink.gif wow! where did you buy acomplia for three months ?60? I would like to buy too. The lowest price I ever seen was 64 for 1 month and It was not the original acompliua, It was the "generis" form; in a Brasilian site. Good luck to all of you...
hi all i started acomplia today -been asking my doctor for it for ages after much investigateing on the net but he wouldnt budge -he'd rather give me anti depressants sad.gif
actually im not depressed im just fed up of my weight and have tried every diet in the world they did work but my carb addiction always came back with vengance
im one of those id rather eat chocolate/sweets than a meal food bores me but anything with sugar in it rolleyes.gif i live on mars bars at work
so any way i ordered some cost me a staggering ?130 for 28 tabs unsure.gif
has any one had any bad side affects from these pills i now use for 5 months and now they just dont seem to do very much....I am still losing some,, 2lb here and there, slowley chomping it away.. but i definately would not pay for them ... try a new doc, or find a doc that does private scripts cost you a tenner but thats better than internet prices.. my best loss is 8lb on the second month.....
thanks ill book in and ask if my doctor will do private priscriptions i was going to give it 3 months and see if these tablets are suitable for me but they are very expensive
havent noticed anything yet dry.gif but my chocolate craveing has less'ened
